Why Sarah's Box
One may be wondering why the name, Sarah´s Box. Sarah is my daughter. A beautiful 8 year-old girl diagnosed with autism and whose one and only word is “agua.” Sarah is the inspiration of our chocolate project, and thus the name. It took me some time to figure out that I do not need more words from my daughter. Sarah has her own language-her own clock as a matter of fact. A few years had to pass before I realized that I would learn her “language” and grow at the pace she marked- not the other way around.
Sarah´s box is personal because it allows her to share some of her favorite things with you: wild flowers, butterflies and lady bugs. She likes them because they move in silence like her and “speak” through their colors. Sarah has her special color: big brown, glossy eyes.
More importantly, our goal with Sarah´s box is to have it humbly serve as a tribute and as an instrument of hope. As a tribute to the families that face as best they can the hurdles of a race they never intended to participate and as an instrument of hope for all those who are yet to embark in this journey. They are not alone for this box is not just Sarah´s Box. This box belongs to Marc, Susan, Peter and John, Tracy, Maria, Antonio and Cristina…
We hope that you enjoy the tasty chocolates inside Sarah´s Box. Never has chocolate served a worthier cause.
Sincerely,
Aida Murguia Co-founder Romanicos Chocolate and Chocolates for Autism
